Explorer question

About a year ago, I had an issue with IE in the XP Home edition - it load
any web pages either via a URL or using an IP Address. At the DOS prompt,
you could ping pages and locate them by their URL. We fixed the problem - I
think by going into the registry to remove some entries. Maybe it was a win
sock fix - just not sure. Did not document any of what we did - just know it
was a 5 minute fix.

Now this system has done the same thing again. Can someone tell me what to
go edit so that explorer will once again connect to the internet. Have to
much much software to reload and I know it can be fixed without such a
radical measure as a reload.

Thanks

Hi Robert,

I'm afraid I can't see any formulation of a malfunction in your wording.

The Winsock fix you mention might be http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm.

If that's not what you are looking for, rephrasing the symptoms could help.

Kind regards

Hans
