I apologize if I posted in the wrong news group.
Been trolling google and microsofts news groups for 12 hours now and still
cannot find a solution. Heres my dilemma:
Performed a restore image of a fresh xp install (everything was working as
expected at the time I imaged the primary drive.) and now my raid 0 does not
show up in windows explorer (everything else in xp works.) The array shows
up on boot and in management console it is listed as online/ active (healthy)
and displays the correct size and space remaining , however, I cannot assign
a drive letter to this array using MMC and windows will not assign a random
drive letter even after reboot. (it was previously labeled d:\ when I imaged
the primary drive) My only options in MMC for this array are to delete
partition, preferences and convert to dymanic disk. I can not initialze the
disk because I only have the choices previously stated. I am trying to save
the data that remains on this array, if that is possible.
I have performed reinstalls of xp before and have not had this problem,
maybe my array is corrupted? The only reason I don't think it is corrupted
is that it shows up in MMC with the correct total size and space remaing on
the array listed and the silicon image raid utility shows it as healthy.
Dunno..., this one's got me scratching my head. Any help on this one is
greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Its a SATA RAID 0 (2 western digital 120 gb hard drives) using the latest
drivers from silicon image on an asus a7n8x-e deluxe mobo. I'm runnig win xp
pro sp2.
