How can I stop Explorer from expanding the directory tree of a drive or
directory in the left-hand pane when I click on it? W2K never used to do it.
If I wanted to expand the view I'd click on the + sign next to the drive or
directory. It's driving me up the wall...

Right click on Explorer then select Properties. Tell us what you have in the line of the Target. It should be something similar like this (%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, c:\) What we need to know is what is after \explorer.

Folder Optioins> View: remove check from box next to "display simple folder
view in Explorer's folder list." When enabled, clicking on a folder that
contains subfolders causes the tree to automatically expand. Disabling,
returns Explorer to the "old" behavior - a second action is needed to
expand the tree.

Peter,

There are no parameters after %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe
I usually start it by right-clicking on My Computer though.

Mark
