Explorer.exe is making my computer unusable

I have no spyware and recently the computer just won't respond whenever I
open something like my documents or explorer. I pull up task manager and the
cpu usage is 100%, and it only goes down when I end the explorer.exe
process. Doing this leaves me with nothing (obviously), and I have to
restart the explorer.exe process. After this it starts all over again. There
is nothing I can see that is making it do this. In safe mode it works fine,
but I don;t want to run my computer in safe made all the time. I can;t look
at files and I'm at my wits end. If anyone could help I would greatly
appreciate it.

I had similar problem It was caused by my firewall
After about seven hours the Firewall's (Zone Alarm) main TSR(?) was eating up all of my RAM
When I attempted to use any program like BPFTP my CPU usage shot up to over 97%.

I hate virus scanners. I can't put it into words but I just hate the things.
grr *shakes fist*

In this case, suffer the consequences. Things are getting
worse with virulent viruses, not better. Sooner or later one
will cripple your machine. Enjoy!

I also don't like reason :p. I guess I'm gonna have to get one, and loathe
the box I switch on daily

Now I'm embarrassed........I don't remember. There were 2 trojans though
