I have a Presario 2700 that came with XP Home, but I upgraded to Pro and then
SP2. There's something wrong with the bios, but I had found a way around it
and that's been fine for years. But all of a sudden when I log on the first
time it takes about 10-15 minutes to finish and not all the startup programs
have started. I can log off and then back on and it takes about 1 minute and
it would load just fine. One day I logged on and it popped up with the error
"explorer.exe Application Error". It said something like click ok to
terminate now or cancel to debug. I have no idea what is wrong.

This is the complete error message:

Explorer.EXE - Application Error

The instruction at "0x75fac598" referenced memory at "0x75fac598". The
required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of
"0xc0000001".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

Then there are buttons for OK and Cancel.
It consistently does this everytime I log on to my XP user account. I wait
about a minute and a half until it'll finally go to my desktop from the sign
in page. It's about 20 seconds later that this error will come up. While
typing this message and not clicking "OK" or "Cancel" it came up with the
dialog box asking to send an error report. Here is the exact message:

Windows Explorer

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on
might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Windows

Then there are buttons for debug, send error report, and don't send.

Please help me. I have no idea what I should do.
