Explorer.exe is arbitrarily executing, and using almost 100% cpu time -
causes the mouse to move eratically or stand still.

I have already succesfuly loaded SP2 in May. Suggestions?

It sounds like spyware. Have you checked your task manager to see what's
eating up the cpu?

I have had the same problem. I am using XP Pro, all the updates have been
done, and the computer had been running fine for months. Until yesterday,
explorer.exe started to randomly start running at 100%. I have run Norton,
AVG, and Adaware...no spyware or virus are detected. I was wondering if you
fixed the problem on your computer and if so how. If anyone else has any
suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Alison

I am now having the same experience as arcwlu01. I have run Norton et al but
no luck so far. If anybody has found the answer, I would be grateful for a
heads-up.
Tks.

I have also been having this problem. No spyware. Microsoft, AdAware, and
housecall cleared me of spyware and viruses. This usually happens after a
few rounds through various files in the computer. It's like Explorer.exe is
stuck going back and forth to different .dlls and doesn't know to stop.
Does anyone know of a way to check which files explorer.exe is accessing?
This sounds really annoying and I'd rather find a fix that doesnt' require
reinstalling. That's always a pain in the ass.
