explorer.exe closes

Whenever I close the Windows Explorer window, the actual process
"explorer.exe" ends, and my taskbar and desktop dissapear temporaraly. This
is very annoying; does anyone have any solutions?
 
Found the solution:
Tools > Folder Options > View tab > check "open folder windows in new
process
