When starting computer get the message "Explorer has
caused an error in ~7082808388.TMP. Explorer will now
close. If you continue to experience problems, try
restarting your computer." If I click the "close" button,
my screen freezes, and I have to restart. This happens
now every time. ??? what to do? I have a Compaq 5000
series @4 yrs. old, 64 MB memory and 15 GB hard drive.
Will more memory fix this problem? Thanks to any tech
savvy person our there .. (I'm obviously not . . .)!

this from Gateway:

When starting Microsoft® Windows®, the following error message may appear:

Explorer has caused an error in ~7082808388.TMP
Explorer will now close.
If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.

This error message may be caused by a memory-resident Trojan virus called
TROJ_SMALL.XC or a Spyware program called ClientMan.msmc. Signs that the
computer may be infected include the following registry entries:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\msmc.exe

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\msmc.exe

So... it looks like you have a virus or trojan. Update your virus software
immediately and run a full system scan.

Go to this link if you can for a good plan of action.

In addition to Ad-Aware download Spybot S&D here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Be sure to keep your antivirus up-to-date. And the spyware programs must be
updated every time *before* you run their scans.

If you need a good FREE antivirus program try AVG at http://www.grisoft.com/
