I format a brand new +RW 4.7 Gig DVD. In Explorer, I click and drag pictues from a folder in My Documets area to the DVD (Drive E:). I do some, then click drive E:. It shows me what I have on the DVD so far. I check properties and I can see the used bytes adding up. When I am all done and read the DVD after ejecting it, the disk name is now UDFREADER rather than what I called. It contains three folders
Autorun which comtains the following " open = UDFRCHK.EXE AUTORUN
The other folders are called UDFRCHK AND UDFRINST.ZL I click on them and nothing happens. HELP! All I want to do it backup my pictures and videos on a 4.7 Gig DVD. It looks like I am almost there, but I am missing something. This situation has happend several times

It sounds like you want a data disc: storage for various image files.

It also sounds like you're ending up with some kind of special disk
designed to autoplay and show the images that have been transferred. For
example, Roxio software has a photo album feature of this type. Check your
settings in the burning program before committing to the burn process.

Also, when you finalize a DVD - you are set up for it to be read on any
computer. The UDF reader is added to accomplish this. This isn't such a bad
thing even if the disk is just for yourself. If your computer ever takes a
dive and has to be replaced, you can still access files from those
finalized DVDs.

No idea why the disk name is changing though. It may have something to do
with how your burning program handles the autoplay/udf reader additions. If
you dig a little deeper in the program, you might find out this is a
default name and that you can change it.

The answers to most of your questions are going to be in the help files of
your DVD burning program. To change the behavior and results, you'll be
changing various settings within the program.
