Explorer 6.0 in Xp does not work

I have a cable internet servic
I can openIE 6.0 ok. When i select any site or type in any site , it may go to the site but an error box appears with the following " Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close - We are sorry for inconvinience " Gives me two choices of sending error msg to Microsoft or Do not sent Once I chose one of them , no matter which- the proigram clears itself. I tried downloading from Microsoft the upgrade SP1 while loading it came back with msg clear cache before the upgrade can be loaded

I am not very knowledgeble in the area . Can any one help me resolve this ?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
