I get an error when opening my download file it is one of those windows
explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. this happens everytime
i open that folder. Tech information is:
app name:explore.exe appver:6.0.2900.2180 modname:is3hook.dll
modver:3.1.2.0 offset:00002469
the following it says will be included in error report:
C:\DOCUME~1\carol\LOCALS~1\temp\1b80_appcompat.txt

I did find this file, can I delete it, or what else do i need to do to stop
this, it seemed to have started when i downloaded some .exe ebooks, I
couldn't get past the opening page, when i click the link to start it say the
page cannot be displayed, which i found out was due to the new XP update
could these be related.

please help this is aggravating
thanks

Hi Carol,

Yes, you can delete the file and the contents of that folder. However,
keep note that some items in there may be needed. But, if you knew what you
were doing while download important files, ect. they would have been placed
where need be.

In addition, added info that may help:

Use one of these three options.

Right Click the My Computer Icon/Properties/Advanced/
Performance/Settings/Advanced/Change.

1. Set Page File to 0, ok your way out and reboot. Then follow the same
procedure and reset the Page File to System Managed File.

2. No Page File. Reboot. Then delete C:\Pagefile.Sys then revert the page
file setting.

3. Set the swap file size to zero, reboot. Re-set to System Managed,
reboot. Reset the Custom setting, reboot.
