Expansion Options for PC1066 Ram

This is not a graphics card related question, but because the readers of the
group are often very savvy I will ask it here anyway.

I have 512 MEGs of PC1066 RAM that I believe are occupying all of my ram
slots. What are my expansion options? Ditch the twin 256 chips and buy two
512 meg chips, or is there a way to add additional slots to the board?

My computer is a fairly new Dell 8250.

Thanks,
J

Your 8250 should have 4 RIMM slots. From your post, it sounds like you have
2 x 256MB PC1066 RIMMs in slots 1 and 2, and 2 continuity RIMMS in slots 3
and 4 (which are needed if slots 3 and 4 are unpopulated.) Intel's 850E
chipset limitation on memory is 1.5GB memory if it's PC1066, or 2GB if it's
PC800, so if you want PC1066 memory, the maximum configuration with 4 RIMM
slots would be 2 x 512MB PC1066 RIMMs in slots 1 and 2, and 2 x 256MB PC1066
RIMMs in slots 3 and 4, for a total of 1.5GB.

Hope this helps.
