expanding cell size

I was wondering if the cell size can be expanded without adding any characters?
The cell will not expand with a hard return (enter button).

Using the F2 key will allow you to expand the information in a cell to view
its full contents including formulas. You can then edit as needed. hope
This helps.
 
Type some text then hit Alt + Enter a few times to add carriage returns.

Set for wrap text and autofit the row.
