Expanded memory on XP Home

I need to run a collection of old DOS-based programs for work. These
programs require access to expanded memory.

By following the instructions that Alex has so helpfully posted (many
times), I have created a DOS shell with expanded memory enabled on my
XP Pro machine. However, on two separate XP Home machines, these
exact same steps do not enable expanded memory.

I think it unlikely that this is a difference between XP Pro and XP
Home. It seems more likely to be a hardware or BIOS issue. However,
just to be sure, has anyone out there got expanded memory working on
an XP Home machine?

Thanks,

Mark Ross

Just a quick followup. We did eventually get this to work on XP Home
by removing an Adaptec SCSI driver. There never was any sort of error
message or anything else to tell us the problem, we just started
removing drivers at random. Microsoft support refused to help us, HP
support recommended re-installing Windows.
