Exiting WM

Hello,
Whenever try to EXIT (Signing out no problem) WM., a warning pops up, "Close other applications that use WM., like IE, OE......", when they are not even open either.

Greetings SB,

Do you have Norton Antivirus installed? Recent versions of Norton Antivirus added an
"instant messaging scanning" feature, which can conflict with Messenger and cause this
behavior. To stop it, open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the Norton Antivirus icon in the
System Tray/Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open Norton Antivirus'), click Options,
then Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger and click OK.

That works but how vulnerable does that leave my computer?

Hi,

It's not really opening a hole at all. All this feature does is automatically scan files
when they arrive as opposed to when you execute/view them. Since Norton will scan files that
you execute or view regardless if this feature is on or not, you just lose this "convenience"
feature, but you're not going to get infected.
