Existing access application will not run in Access 2003

We have MDAC 2.8 on pc (XP Service Pack 2) and existing Microsoft Access
application will not run on Access 2003. Runs fine in Access 2000.

Prob is that many of our customers who are due for an database upgrade are
running Access 2003, at the moment the only way we can see to resolve this
is to ask our customers to downgrade to Access 2000.

Would be very grateful for any help.

What's the problem? "will not run" doesn't give us much to go on...

Hi Douglas - thanks for getting back to me

basically if we try to open any form that has ADODB connections the 'an
error has ocurred - do you want to inform Microsoft' box appears and Access
then hangs/shuts down

(other forms that do not have ADODB connections load and run ok)

I think the problem lies with MDAC - we installed office 2003 on an xp
machine with XP SP 2 I think it may be MDAC 2.81 causing the problem???



but not sure how to downgrade 2.81 to 2.8 (or if indeed this is the problem)
or how to find out what version of MDAC is running.

The first thing I'd try is decompiling your application. Tony Toews has
