every time I download a .ex program, it shows as .rm file
try to run and real media plaer open. where do i point
downloads tp open.

It is unclear what is happening. However, default associations can be
restored. Click the DougKnox link below, then XP-FIXES and run the "file
association fix" - lefthand column.
