Excluding data

i have table and a query built .. now Im trying to run a report that
excludes a field based on a number eg 3 = cancelled order so i dont want to
show any number 3's from a PAYMENTresult field .. but want to show all other
results

How do i do it .. ive tried with no luck

.... also how do I associate a number eg with CANCELLED so it shows as
CANCELLED in a FoRM rather than the number 3

ANY HELP APPRECIATED
