Exchange/Domain migration help needed.

Hi there,

The company I work for has recently gone through administration and has
now come under new ownership. Due to this the name of our company will
more than likely be changing (although this hasn't been confirmed yet)
and I know I will be called upon to sort out the AD and Exchange side
of things to reflect the new company name.

The problem is, it's not something I've done before and guess that as
it will involve changing the domain name and exchange organisation, I'm
guessing it will be easier to setup a new domain, migrate all objects
over and then once everything is confirmed working, remove the old
domain.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of some resources to read up
on this so I can put a proposal of options forward?

I have already come across this article:

How to migrate objects from one domain to another in the same forest
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555229

Which seems like it should be along the right path, but everything I do
will be on existing servers and not onto new ones, so whatever option I
choose, I have to be able to do without any additional hardware.

Unless someone absolutely insists I would not change the AD domain name. The
work involved outweighs any benefits given that all you are really concerned
about is how it appears to customers you could just add the new company
domain name to existing recipient policies and set the new smtp address as
primary. This has the added benefits of keeping mail flowing on the old
address and not needing to worry about setting this up again. However if you
need some more info, try this:
