Hi,

i know nothing about Exchange, so I'm sorry if this is a
basic question.

I have a company that want to hire me to upgrade their
Windows NT4 domain to Windows 2003 Active Directory domain.

That company is still using Exchange 5.5. I do not know if
this exchange server is running on one of the DC's or it's
own dedicated server.

The question is, if that exchange server is being hosted
on it's own dedicated server, then can I just upgrade
their domain in Win2003 and implement active directory
without upsetting the exchange server?.
Thanks

James

Yes you can upgrade the domain to ws2k3, just make sure, that exchange
server runs on either Windows 2000 or Windows NT4. Exchange 5.5 has its own
directory so it is completly separated from AD (there are issues of running
Exchange 5.5 on a Windows 2000 DC - LDAP port problems). After upgrade use
Active Directroy Connector to sync Exchange directory with Active Directory.
