Excelling itself, a query

In using Excel, a small green triangle has appeared at top right corner
of some cells which contain a formula. The formula works, but am puzzled
about this.
The version of Excel is from Office 2003, can anyone explain this, I
would be most grateful for some help please.

Hi Derrick,

I guess you are referring to comments (let me know if not). You can add/
edit/ delete a comment by right clicking on the cell and then further
choosing the appropriate option, under the context sensitive menu.

Excel wants to "help" you. For example, you may have a number displayed as text, aligned to the left and preceeded by a single quote ('). This is one way to produce one of those little green arrows.

Click on the cell with the little green triangle, then click on the little exclamation point that pops up and tell us what it says.

Carl. I have to reveal now this query is for a friend who does not
subscribe to newsgroups and I will forward this to him and revert back
to you here with his answer to your question.
