** Excell window on desktop failed **

T

Terry Crowell

Gentlemen,

Have Compaq 450 meg computer running Windows 2000.

I typically run up to 15 programs that are minimised
generally. Many of these are run as windows on the
desktop for fast access to information.

We also use another computer as a storage devise for
keeping various files which are accessed frequently.

The Problem:
I am working in an Excel spread sheet of some 10900
entries and did a "Ctrl + S" which took several minutes.
There were 3-4 sheets in windows open within the Excel
program at the time.
During this time period, Excel ties up the processor and
so I cleared the windows off the desktop to access other
windows of programs during the Excel save routine.
When I attempted to bring Excel back up in the window
format, it would not respond. I decided the computer is
out of memory and close all programs and restart. Open
Excel and find it will run only in full screen mode. No
more in the window mode. I shut the computer down, that
is power off, and reboot with the same result, no Excel
window mode. No other program is affected and all run in
windows mode.

Can anyone tell me how to repair this easily??

Best regards,
Terry @ Louisville

Reinstall the application or possibly ask in office.setup or excel.setup

You should try an Excel or Office group.

First determine if this is Excel's "Full Screen" mode. There should
still be menu bar visible with a View menu. Or try ALT+V, U

Or it could be that the "maximize" exceeds your available screen
resolution. Try ALT+- (ALT key held and press hyphen (minus
sign)), the letter "M" (move) and a series of DownArrow and
RightArrow presses.

I do not know the registry settings used for any of the above off
hand.
