Excell 2000 / create a consecutive list of numbers

Abay

Hello,

I would like to be able to automatically fill a series of cells with
consecutive numbers after entering the starting number in cell a1 for
example. I would like the numbers to be filled in horizontally. I know I
can do this with days of a week and calendar dates, but cannot seem to get
excel to automatically increase a number from one cell to another. Am a bit
of a newbie in that I do not use excel very often.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi

With 1 in cell A1, right click on the fill handle at the bottom right of the
cell and drag as far as you like across the screen or down the screen.
When you release the mouse button, choose the option to Fill Series

Alternatively, put the first 2 numbers in the first 2 cells, select those 2
cells then drag down. Useful if you want up to a a certain number :)
IIRC, the numbers can be more than 1 apart (ie 1,2 would give 3,4,5 ...; 1,4
would give 7,10, 13...).
That can be very useful.

Hello again,

Many thanks for both replies from Roger and Bruce, and apologies for not
getting back sooner, thought I had done so. Your help is very much
appreciated.

Sincerely
Abay
