Excel2000-Remove a column of data in a txt file

This may seem simple but for some reason I can't get it right.

I have a txt file that looks like this.

"aa","bbb","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","bbb","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","bbb","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","bbb","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","bbb","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","bbb","cccc","dddddd"

I would like the txt file to now contain only this:

"aa","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","cccc","dddddd"
"aa","cccc","dddddd"

I have tried importing the original txt file. Remove the column "b" and
then save as a csv but I end up with something like this:

''"aa''",''"cccc''",''"dddddd"''
''"aa''",''"cccc''",''"dddddd"''
''"aa''",''"cccc''",''"dddddd"''
''"aa''",''"cccc''",''"dddddd"''

Or I end up with spaces between each column.

What the heck am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for your help.
