Excel has caused an error in excel exe. excel will now
close.
This is what pops up on a computer startup. I have
deinstalled Excel then at boot the error does not show as
soon as I reinstall I get the error back. If while
windows is running and I attempt to open excel I get exact
same error. I have done a repair on Office 2000, I have
deinstalled and reinstalled Excel several times. As soon
as it is reinstalled we are back to error occuring at
boot up again. ???????? any ideas Im lost !

Hi Kevin,

This isn't guaranteed to solve the problem, but it's worth a try. Use
Windows Explorer to search all of your hard disks for files with a .XLB
extension. Delete any that you find. Excel uses these files to store
information about its toolbar configuration, but they frequently become
corrupted and cause strange problems like this. Excel will recreate new
default versions if you delete the old corrupt ones.
