Excel won't start up

John

I have a user whose Excel program won't open properly. The
splash screen shows for about a second and then just goes
away, not opening the program at all. I have uninstalled
and reinstalled Office XP completely and I am still not
able to start the Excel program. All other Office programs
open correctly. There is no error message given.
I have the feeling there may be something wrong in this
person's registry. Can you please help? Thanks. The user
runs Windows XP Professional and Office XP Professional.

These were written for xl2k and I'm not sure they apply to xl2002, but you may
