Excel Excel - time format - milliseconds

Hello,

Can I format a cell to show time including milliseconds? I want later on to use the milliseconds in a formula in another cell.
The time format needed is:
Minutes:Seconds.milliseconds
I used the format: mm:ss.00
It shows the time I wanted, for example 03:10.87 but then I want to use the milliseconds in a formula and couldn't, Excel was ignoring the 87.
