Excel - sorting

I have a template that I use every month. After the data
is entered it needs to be sorted. It suddenly will not
sort. In fact all items in the Data menu are grayed out.
What can be done to solve this problem? It will sort for
several months and then stops.
 
Do you have more than one worksheet selected? The title bar would
display [Group] at the end of the workbook name.

If so, you can ungroup the sheets by right-clicking on one, and choosing
'Ungroup sheets'
