excel save

I noticed on some excel spreadsheet, excel prompts you to save when you just
open it and close it without typing anything in.
What could be in the spreadsheet that causes this?

Fred, Some functions in excel are "volatile", they will re-calculate every
time excel is opened, like NOW(), have a look here for a list
