Excel Program Error

I am trying to open a file in Excel. I have attempted to open a file by
clicking on the file to invoke Excel and have attempted to open the file once
I am in Excel. I was ocassionally getting the message "Microsoft Windows
Excel is Not Working". Now, I am getting it all the time no matter what file
I try to open. What can I do to have the program work properly? I am not on
a network, this is a home computer.
