excel problems...

I AM IN A PANIC!!!!
As of yesterday my excel program was working fine HOWEVER
I just received a spreadsheet from my headquarters office
that was excel BUT when I go to open it I get the
following message:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other
removable disk that is not available." Insert
the "Microsoft Office 2000 Premium" disk and click ok
then when I hit cancel the following message appaers:
"Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product
Microsoft Office 2000 Premium. The Windows installer
cannot continue." when I click ok at that message the last
message that appears is: "The Windows Installer failed to
install the program associated with this file. Please
contact your system administator."
Normally that would be NO big deal but I am now located in
Kentucky and our head office is in Arizona so I can NOT
get the disk it is asking for. I use EXCEL almost EVERYDAY
& CAN NOT afford for this to happen. WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX
THIS?
If I buy Microsoft Office xp Professional can I install it
to my computer? Do I unistall all the current programs
(Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) before I install
the xp program and can Outlook xp work with my work e-mail
as my current Outlook program does?

Sorry for all the questions but I REALLY CAN NOT afford to
have certain programs work and others not work.

Maybe it's a virus. There's some information in the following MSKB article:

XL: You Cannot Start or Install Excel, and the Excel.exe File on Your
