Excel Pie Chart not printing correctly in MS Publisher 2003

I have a pie chart that I created with Excel that has four sections
and a legend that has a colored boxes representing each one of these
four sections.

I have copied these Excel chart into MS Publisher where it looks
fine.

When, however, I try to print either to Adobe PDF or my color printer,
the Publisher document changes and the hardcopy represents this
change. First, one of the colored boxes in the legend disappears
(although the section in the chart still remains). Second, the pie
chart itself becomes smaller and the percentage figures (which were
originally inside the pie chart itself), now appear outside the pie
chart, connected to it by a black line.

Please note, if I printed to my black and white Dell Printer, the
change does not occur.

Can anyone provide clarity on why change might be occurring? And more
importantly, how to stop it from occurring?

Thanks,
SB

SB or mrsethbullock -

You did not mention which version of Excel you are using, and you did not
describe the specific method you are using to copy from Excel and paste into
MS Publisher.

For Excel 2003 and previous versions, try this: Click just inside the outer
border of the chart to select it. Hold down the Shift key and choose Edit |
Copy Picture. Try the various options. In MS Publisher, Paste.

My apologies.

I am using Excel 2007 and Publisher 2003.

To originally display the pie chart in Publisher, I simply copied and
pasted.

For Excel 2007, try this: Click just inside the outer border of the chart to
select it. Choose Home | Paste | As Picture | Copy As Picture. In MS
Publisher, Paste. Try various options in Excel's Copy Picutre dialog box.

But don't expect high quality from Excel 2007. For more information, browse
to www.google.com or groups.google.com and search for "excel 2007 - copying
charts to word problem". Other sources are chart guru Jon Peltier's web site
