Excel Pattern Formula

I need to do a count based on the presence of a pattern in a cell. Is
it possible to test based on this? I basically just need to know if
there is a pattern or not, not what the pattern is (just a
true/false). I've searched high and low and can't seem to find
anything.

Yes, Myrna, that's exactly what I'm trying to do! Thanks for the
suggestion. I'll go to Chip's site and give that a try.
