Excel Opens two files

L

Hey there,

Recently when I open a excel file from Lotus Notes it opens up two
versions such as filename:1 and filename:2

This has become quite annoying as its hard to use the compare side by
side option as I always have to chose which file.

Can anyone help save me 5 seconds of my time? Qutie important as I
have about 60 files to compare and it gets annoying having to keep
close one down.

Thanks :)

I don't think that this is a Lotus Notes problem--but I've never used Notes.

My bet is that the person who sent the file had two windows open to the same
workbook and saved it that way.

You can close the window you don't want by:
selecting that window
ctrl-w

(save the file--or you'll have to do it again).

This is caused by using Window|New Window (and maybe window|arrange to make it
useful). If you use this, you can tile the windows so you can see different
parts of the workbook (or even the same worksheet) without having to swap back
and forth--or do lots of scrolling.
