Excel oddity

Created several files each with several worksheets. Each time I created a
new worksheet I copied an earlier one.
Every sheet has a different header (only seen in Print Preview of course).
Of course the headers were the same (because I copied the worksheet from
elsewhere) so I had to edit it to make it particular to that sheet.
All files were saved and I still have the saved versions. No problem with
them.

Later on I edited some of the files but not all. I saved them with new
names.

Now the later versions have mysteriously had their headers amended! They
have all reverted to the same header as the original sheet from which I
copied all the others. Take my word for it that I did not do this - somehow
Excel has carried out a batch re-titling of all my worksheets in all the
files. Of course my first thought was that I had failed to edit the headers,
but when I checked the FIRST versions there were all the correct headers!

Yes, I know it is possible to edit several headers simultaneously but I
assure you that I did not. And in any case this has affected ALL files in
the updated set, not just the ones I revised.

Explanations, anyone?

It is also possible to use a macro and change all your headers/footings
when the macro is invoked, or to invoke an Event macro when you print
(print is an event)..

The other obvious questions that are what version of Excel what have you
done between when they worked and when they no longer work in the
desired manner, such as updates if any that you know of..

David I think you may be on to something. I did create a macro during the
job and this macro was set up to add wording to the headers. Somehow I must
have edited more than I intended. Time I studied the manual again I think.
