Excel locks up when I hit bold

Any suggestions? Every time I try to use bold, my PC locks up. I've tried
re-booting to no avail. Any suggestions on how to solve this? Thanks.
 
Interesting... when I open control panel and double click on printes and
faxes, it locks up again.
