Excel - Left margin of footer

Using Excel 2002. Why doesn't the left margin in a custom footer match the left margin of the spreadsheet? Any way to make them match besides adding spaces before the footer?
 
You can't change the margin setting for the footer. You can only change
its appearance by adding spaces, as you're currently doing.
 
It's not fixed in Excel 2003, but you can submit your suggestion for a
fix to (e-mail address removed)

Include Excel in the subject line so the message can be routed to the
Excel product managers.
