Excel formula problem

I have a worksheet that has a running balance formula (ending balance from
column above, plus activity from different columns in same row.

When I copy this formula down to the next row, the cell references change
but it gives me the sum of the cell that I copied from. In order to get the
correct sum, I must re-enter the formula each time.

Anyone know how to get this corrected?

Your calculation is probably set to "Manual".

<Tools> <Options <Calculation> tab

Click on "Automatic".

It sounds as if you have Calculation set to Manual

Try:

Tool > Options > Calculation > Automatic

Excel takes the Manul/Automatic setting from the first workbook to be opened
in the session.
