Excel file not opening when double click on file name

Using Excel 2000 and XP Home, for some reason when I
double click on an excel file from explorer (or from
email) Excel opens and it seems like it starts to open
the file but it then just opens Excel without opening the
file. I checked the file type and it is setup properly.

Any ideas?
