Excel Error Message

Am not an Excel expert - Using Excel 2000, have a spreadsheet to which we are
continually adding rows of information - Current entries are 10,304 and using
columns A-Q. Today, when we tried to insert blank rows to add information
(as always in the past) we received the following popup message:
"To prevent possible loss of data, Microsoft Excel cannot shift nonblank
cells off the worksheet.
Try to delete or clear the cells to the right and below your data. Then
select cell A1, and save your workbook to reset the last cell used."
Why are we suddenly receiving this message. We do not want to lose data.

HI,

Certainty you are using or have data on the last column (IV) or last row
(65,536) of the spreadsheet, when you ask excel to include a new column/row
it will move to right/down all the others columns/rows.

check it to move the data for another range if it's necessary and try again

There are no other entries beyond row 10,304 and Column Q - Why are we
unable to add blank rows without overwriting data?

There are no entries past row 10304 or column Q - the rest of the
spreadsheet is blank - Why won't it allow me to add rows as in the past?

You have something in a cell or cells at column IV or row 65536.

Select all rows below 10304 and Edit>Delete.

Same for columns right of Q

IMPORTANT STEP. Save the workbook.

Some versions of Excel required a Save and Close then re-open to complete the
reset.

I am not an expert either, however, I believe if u have done some work to the
spreadsheet already, u should try to save the worksheet first and then copy
over the cells.
