Excel data sort

I need to sort data alphabetically on a speadsheet and also add new data from
another excel spreadsheet. The problem is the column to sort is 4 lines
(column D) and the other columns with contractor numbers that need to match
and phone number data are spaced the same, however when I did a data sort it
doesn't keep the spacing and messes up the entire spreadsheet info. Is there
a way to successfully have all data sorted alpha. Below is a sample of the
spreadsheet info. (Of course there are colums with the headings and then the
info below)

Outside Rep. Inside Rep. Lic# Customer Contacts Phone #'s
House Shonnie 1 7336 A. A. Samuels Sheet Meta 330-793-9326
P.O. Box 2407
Youngstown, OH 44509
Thanks in advance for any assistance in this matter. I have to input about
50+ new contractors into this exsisting spreadsheet from another excel
spreadsheet and am trying to make it user friendly for our sales reps.
