Excel creating wrong links between sheets

Guest

I have a large workbook with a number of sheets and many range names defined.

When linking information between sheets, I am sometimes finding that the
link is created on the destination sheet rather than where I wanted it. For
example:

If I am in cell R50 on Sheet2 and enter "=" or "+" and then click onto cell
E6 on Sheet1 and hit <return>, the formula actually ends up being entered on
Sheet1 (in cell R50) rather than Sheet2 where I started the link from.

If I enter the formula in full on Sheet2 (i.e. +'Sheet1'!E6) then I don't
get the problem.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Zwinsky,

E6 on Sheet1 and hit <return>, the formula actually ends up being entered on
Sheet1 (in cell R50) rather than Sheet2 where I started the link from.

Are you sure you're not in grouped sheet mode (both tabs are white)?

Thanks for your response

I'm not in group mode, but it's interesting that after I hit <return> the
cursor is in a cell on Sheet1 but Sheet2 is showing as active/selected (i.e.
the tab is white, and Sheet1 tab is grey).

Sounds like your file is corrupt. Look here for some options:
