Excel Crash....HELP!

I have Excel 5.0 sucessfully installed in XP and was using it daily. Tried
to open it today and got a pop-up titled: "16 Bit Windows Subsystem". It
reads: "C:\Windows|System32|autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows Applications".

Can anyone help? I have tried running System Restore without results.
In 'search', all or most of the program files are still on the hard drive.

I cannot re-install Excel 5.0....it is on floppies and the format is not
recognized by XP.

I have my small business files on this program and I am in trouble!
