Excel Count Problem

I'm trying to write a formula that counts the number of occurences i
which specific criteria from 2 columns (same row) are met. In th
attached example, to count the number of times both "red" and th
number 1 occur (answer 3). Feel like there's a simple solution, but I'
at my wits end.:confused
