Excel cell number formatting should have a significant digits opti

One should be able to format a cell in Excel so that the number of
significant digits stays constant, no matter how the digits or decimal places
change. You get something like this with the "Scientific" number format, but
it's not as intuitive to look at.

Maybe, but it won't happen in any current version of Excel. It's a business
app. How many business folks do you think understand the concept of
significant digits?
