Excel Cell Limit 255 characters

I have a worksheet in which a cell stores more than 255
characters. How can I open the worksheet properly so that
I can display all the characters stored.

I just open it.

You may need to widen a column, increase the row height to see more.

If the length of your string exceeds (about) 1000, you may want to add some
alt-enters to the text. You'll be able to see more.

(xl97 and above--xl95 only had 255 characters per cell)
 
If the Excel file is opened with openoffice, it shows all characters beyond 255 characters
If the Excel file is opened with MS Excel 2000, it shows only 1 - 255 characters
