Is there a way to divide a cell in half diagonally and
color each half a different color? I thought maybe I could
import a picture, but it would cover up the text.

Maybe put a couple of shapes (rectangles/triangles) over the cell and format
them nicely (hide the borders and shade the fill area.

And don't forget to play around with the transparency level, too.

Dave's tip worked for me;

I filled a cell with yellow and the drew a single right angled triangle over the top of that cell and then formatted it as follows:
Fill colour = Cyan
Transparency = 50%
Line Colour = No Line

Any text entered in the cell is still visible beneathe the drawn triangle.
