Excel cannot open Access MDB

Hi,

Has anyone come across the error message (show below). This occurs every
time I open and launch Excel. Am using MS Office 2000, and any help would be
gratefully appreciated.

"Excel cannot open Access MDB files directly. To import Access data into
Excel, use the Get External Data Command: In Excel, point to Get External
Data on the Data menu, click New Database Query, and then create a query to
retrieve the data. For information about creating a query, see help in Excel".

Many Thanks

My guess is that you have an access database in your excel startu
directory (or your alternate startup directory). Every time exce
opens, it will open all files in these directories.

The startup directory (on Win2K) is: C:\Documents and Settings\{you
userid}\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
The alternate startup is only used if you specified it under Tools
Options (General Tab), At startup open all files in:

Move the database out of the directory and all should be ok.
