Excel autorecovery

Autorecovery comes into play when excel or windows crashes.

The next time you open excel, it will notice that there's a file that needs to
be recovered.

If you close the workbook (without saving), then this autorecovery file is gone.

So there's nothing left to recover.
 
Not possible if you by that mean that you worked on a file then you closed
it without saving?
