Excel - Autorecovery path

J

Jonathan Allsup

I had my files saved in
\ntserver1\files\wo

I had the auto recover files going to:
\ntserver1\files\wo\data

Well I have since moved my files simply to the files
directory and now excel is giving me an error message that
reads:

"Microsoft Excel cannot save AutoRecover info to
\\ntserver1\files\wo\data\autorecover. Please check the
network connection or change the location on the Save tab
of the Tools, Options dialog."

So I hit ok and go to the tools\options\save and get the
following error message:

"Cannot access directory '\\ntserver1
\files\wo\data\autorecover'.

So either way I am locked out of changing this setting or
parameter.

So my question is, does anyone know how to set the path
to null or to whatever default it was at without
deinstalling and reinstalling?

Thank you

Does that folder (path) still exist? If not you can temporarily create it,
change the setting and then delete it.

Guessing this is XP or 2003, have you tried running detect and repair?

So after doing the detect and repair, after reinstallng
the office package, after reinstalling the operating
system, I found that it was an error in the profile
only. Reinstalling the office suite did correct some
problems but what I really needed to do was logon as
administrator and delete my profile then logon as myself
and recreate the profile. Doing that would have reset my
office options. I did however try to create the
directory and file again but to no avail.

Thank you for your help!
